O sleep, o gentle sleep
Sleep is the most important thing in life. If we sleep well, we get up fresh to face the challenges of life. But perchance that we don’t, we get up tired, irritated and morose. Naturally, we cannot concentrate on anything and we land up spoiling the whole day. What do we do?
Sleep is not in our hands, you will say. But believe me, there are several things you can do to get better sleep. Talking of Vastu, it is assumed that your bed is in the southwest direction of the house and you are sleeping in the southwest corner. Your head is not towards North. There is no green plants, TV, computer or fish tank in our room.
One of the easiest cures for insomnia is that before going to sleep, you wash your feet and apply some oil. The sole of our feet is where all the nerves meet. Washing of feet means you have washed off all the dirt that you have accumulated during the day, and your feet are clean. Applying some lubrication means you have closed all the pores from where energy exits. Doing this simple thing will enhance the quality of your sleep.
Secondly, touch your navel, and make circles around it. We meet a lot of people during the day, some good some not so good. All the people leave their mark, their relationship with you through the navel. By touching and doing circles around it, what you are doing is cutting off all their negativity. What is done during the day, is done, you don’t take the problems of the day to your bed. You cut off from them for the night. Tomorrow is another day.
The last one is a mental exercise. When you close your eyes, visualize your bright future. Imagine yourself living the life you have dreamt about. By thinking of your bright future till you drop off to sleep, you are embedding your dream in your subconscious. In the night, you will dream about your future life. Till the time you are not asleep, you are thinking of your dreams and goals. Can there be a better way to drop off to sleep?
Some people put on some meditation or sleep music. Theoretically it is a good practice, but practically it is not. The presence of an electronic item next to you is passing electronic waves in your mind, which disturbs sleep. So keep your cellphone, your music system and even the clock away from you and dream your way to sleep.
