Different strokes for different rooms

Whenever we buy a new house or the old one gets worn out, one of the problems we face is what colours to use on different walls. These tips it is hoped, will clear some confusion.

1. Whatever colour you choose to use, be careful that entire house is not painted in one colour. Colours should always be used in combinations, preferably in contrast. This avoids dullness in the house. If colours are in contrasts it does not attract dull energy.

2. Blue colour is very powerful. It should never be used in the southern wall. The owner tends to attract lots of anger. Nor should there be picture of sea or water hung in the south for the same reason.

3.  Red colour should me avoided in the northeast, north or east. Positive waves are coming in from the north and east. Red colour puts a break into these. It deflects them in other directions and does not let positive energy into the house.

4. In a newly weds bedroom, use shades of pink. However if the relationship is old and there's a need to reignite the spark, pure white is needed.

5. In a kid boys room, use shades of light blue. If its a girl, use shades of light pinks.

6. In the kitchen, use yellow.

7. In rest of the house and of the pastel shades will do. Don't use dark colours.

Do you carry your God with you?

It is always good to keep your God in your thoughts, in your heart. This way firstly you won't have any problem. If you do face a problem, you can always ask God for the guidance. He is right beside you.

I am talking about God's statue or image being carried by some people in the car or suitcase. Imagine treating someone you respect, and carrying him or her in a suitcase. Will you be keeping your God along with so many other things, may be whiskey also? What effect will it have on God, and you! No, it is not wise to carry God with you.

It is always good to carry god's symbol with you. Different gods have different symbols. Lard Shiva has 'trishool', 'linga' etc. Lord Ganesh is represented by 'swastik', 'shubh-labh' and 'ridhi-sidhi'. Maha Lakshmi has 'lotus' flower.

Main door of the house is decorated with 'shubh-labh' or 'swastik'. Some people also put 'Om' the symbol of universal sound or source of everything. You should also put 'toran', a decoration of Ashoka or mango tree leaves, which is called 'bandanwars'. You can also put a 'toran' of 'kauris', a symbol of prosperity.

Important thing to remember is that you don't place God's image anywhere except in your temple in northeast, or east corner. Other places have to be decorated with their symbols not god themselves.

Life does not always happen the way we want it. You lose your mental equilibrium for your boss treats you unfairly, or at times it is your better half or the other people. 6. Sit in the Sun - in winter days you cannot always get Sun. Imagine a warm place, with plenty of sunshine

Condominiums are no different

Whether it is house or condo, both have people living in them. How can the Vastu rules be any different? Here is a recap of do's and don'ts while buying a condo.

Look for a condo on cardinal directions, which is facing east or north. Make sure there's enough open space in these directions. Windows and balconies will be very good. Positive energies come in the flat form north or east. If there are any in south or west, make sure these are closed or covered, lest positive energies escape.

Have no washrooms in north, northeast or east. If it is a bathroom only, then its ok in east direction only, but no toilets. Toilets in the wrong place, mean endless troubles for the family, whether it is illnesses, surgeries or financial troubles.

Have your kitchen in southeast with the person cooking, facing east. Have your sink in the left of cooking range. Don't have them together, for fire and water don't jell.

Have your master bedroom in the southwest. Other bedrooms can be in the south or west. Have no doors facing the bed. It should be ideally be facing south but never in the north, for Magnetic energy plays havoc with the head.

Have main entrance to the flat in the proper 'padas', marked in Vastu map. A Vastu map consists of 81 ‘padas’ of equal sizes, 9 on each side in a square or rectangular plot.

There should be nothing built in the center 9 padas, with breathing space or light in the center. If not possible to leave it vacant, than have a living room with sofas on sides. Centre of the house or flat has heavy energy due to gravity.

Everything in its place

Most of us have the habit of keeping small things at odd places and forget them. We waste precious time, when we need them. Apart from being a big nuisance, it's a serious Vastu flaw.  Remember the old saying?  'Everything in its place, a place for every thing.'

Most common thing is a broom. It is used to clean the house, and reach inaccessible places. For goddess Lakshmi does not like unclean places, especially places where lot of spider webs clutter up. She likes cleanliness. How can you treat with disrespect an item, which is very dear to her?

A broom should not be kept standing. It should be kept lying down. It should be kept at a place, where it does not get in the way. Ideal place for it is south, southwest and west. North, northeast and east places are best avoided. It should not be kept in the kitchen at any cost.

Clocks are best kept in the north direction. It should be kept on time or little faster, but not behind time. It should be working. Make sure the battery is not dead. If you have a green Pendulum clock, it should be hung on eastern side. You will always be well respected, and your payments will never be delayed.

Shoes bear our weight and go with us everywhere, good places and bad. In order to make sure that dust of shoes doesn't come in side the house, it is important to remove them outside only. Also the best place to keep our shoes is west side, preferably in a rack, kept in the west side.

Wallet is another important item, which is kept haphazardly. People often leave them hanging in the back pocket. Always keep your wallets, containing small day-to-day expenses in the northeast corner. Your money will not be used for unnecessary expenses. Large amounts of cash should be kept in a safe kept at southwest corner in your bedroom.

Knives, scissors and nail cutters are other items for which we don’t make any fixed place, but you should. Knives should be kept covered and in the kitchen. Scissors are used in kitchen as well as for other uses. It should be kept in a drawer in the bedroom or in the kitchen. But should not be lying at any place. Nor should by your nail cutter. It should be lying in your bath room.

Are you a victim of delays?

Good question, for who hasn't been? If you are suffering delays in your promotion, in getting paid for work already done or the coveted order just keeps getting delayed, there is a solution in Vastu.

Northeast corner is very powerful, if used correctly. Otherwise it is a source of endless troubles. You should keep this are neat and tidy. Keep a pot of water there and keep it fragrant. If possible, keep water from river Ganges. This will take away most of the illnesses and you will find luck, prosperity and good name will come your way. The delays will become a thing of the past.

If promotion is your concern, make sure you are facing north, northeast or east. There should not be a window behind back. Windows are very good in the three directions mentioned, but are very bad in any other direction. These should be covered, if not closed altogether.

If payments are delayed, make sure no mirror is cracked. Remove the damaged glass at the earliest. As the saying goes, it brings 7 years bad luck. Also, have no mirror in the southeast, south, southwest, west or northwest. If it is unavoidable, then keep them covered. How ever mirrors in north, northeast and east direction bring you good luck.

If your daughter is not getting married, make sure she is not sleeping in the southwest. It is very bad direction for your kids, especially girls. The kids even fall on bad company and you don't even get to know about it. Make sure you change it. If not possible to change, have your own couples picture in the south.

A defect in the southeast also causes delay in marriage of daughter. Remove the defect at the earliest. Using yellow paint and 9 cornelian stones helps.

Are you getting good sleep?

Sleep is the most important thing in life, for without it, you cannot function for any length of time. Sound, dream-less sleep is the best way to recharge your batteries. But it is not guaranteed to the rich, it is not assured to the famous.

Vastu can help. Here are the 7 things you can do to get a good nights sleep.

1. See which side is your head when you sleep. Head should not be in the north, because North Pole and head repel each other. The reason is presence of iron, which is magnetic and cause for repulsion.

You should sleep with your head in the south. If not possible in the south, than you can sleep with your head in east or west, but never in the north. Otherwise you will get bad dreams and may get deceases of mental nature.

2. There should not be any beam over your head. These are present in the ceiling and give the feeling of having heavy load on your head. You cannot sleep properly.

3. There should not be a window behind your bed. You will get bad dreams and a disturbed sleep. There should be a solid wall behind your head. Avoid having any steel furniture next to your head, because it reacts with iron.

4. On the same note, there should not be any door in front of your feet, especially toilet door. If due to paucity of space it is unavoidable, have a few crystals in a bowl, placed in the washroom.

5. There should not be any electromagnetic rays next to the where are you sleeping. Most of the people are in the habit of sleeping with their cell phones next to them. This should be avoided. Have a mechanical clock for alarm. You don't expect a call every day, do you?

6. Do not let any one else other than your partner or children enter your bedroom. It is your sanctuary. It should be kept that way. You do not know the other person may be having an evil eye or having bad energy.

7. You fall ill. You shed your negativity on your bed. That negativity enters your pillow, your bed sheets and your mattress, in the insides of yours mattress. This negativity affects you, when you get better. How to stop this? You put your bed sheets for a wash and you put your pillows and mattress in the Sun. The hot Sun will cleanse your pillows and your mattress.
